Message from IFSW President – Africa Region
Fellow Social Workers, It is great pleasure to notify you all that the 2017 joint conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development will be hosted by Social Workers Association of Zambia ( SWAZ) , the International Federation of Social Workers ( IFSW) Africa Region and Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA). The theme of the conference is Embracing Evidence-Based Practice for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development.
This theme resonates well with the IFSW global agenda and will certainly benefit the entire African continent and allow our voice to be heard.
The conference will draw social workers from the African continent and beyond. This platform will bring different experiences and practices; enriching our professional practice and experiences. The challenges facing Africa are more macro. Indeed, the issue of the environment and sustainable development are central to the issues facing Africa today. The problems of climate change, drought and poverty, inter alia, are located within the environment and sustainable development agenda. With this in mind, the Zambia conference presents an opportunity to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the people of Africa.
Come join social workers in Livingstone Zambia as Africa rows together with the Victoria Falls.
We look forward to your participation in Livingstone Zambia in June 2016.
Noel Muridzo MSW, BSW, Dip Social Work
President, IFSW-Africa Region
